In this tutorial we will look into how we can Jailbreak your new iPod Touch having iOS 4.2.1 and we would be ending up in a perfect working Jailbroken iPod Touch after the end of the tutorial. So let’s first run through the checklist before Jailbreaking the iPod:
STEP 1: After you have downloaded all of above. Start your Itunes software while keeping the iPod connected and It will be automatically detected.
STEP 2: Now you need to press shift and click on the restore button, you should be able to browse. Now browse for the ipsw file that you downloaded just now and let Itunes restore it for you. Once done your device would be restored to 4.2.1.
STEP 3: Now fire up the redsn0w you had just downloaded. In the first step it will verify the file once that is done click on next.
STEP 4: Having done that it will bring you to the next step, where you will find a set of options to check from. Be sure to check only the option “Install Cydia”
STEP 5: Now you need to switch off your iPod and the redsn0w software will guide you to put the iPod in DFU mode. Do it absolutely as shown.
STEP 6: Once you have successfully completed the above process redsn0w will start to jailbreak the iPod. Be patient and wait for some time. It would be done. However, this process is still boot tethered as of now.
So once you switch off the iPod you will need to again connect it to the computer and follow the steps only in place of Install Cydia you will have to select “Just Boot tethered right now”.
